Superfood is a nutrient-rich food that contains high amounts of phytochemical which can help promote overall health and prevent diseases include cancer. Here are some inexpensive and powerful superfoods that you can found in almost any supermarket.
  1. Tomatoes
    Tomatoes contain high amount of lycopene, an antioxidant that supports prostate health and help prevent cardiovascular disease. Medical experts suggest men to eat tomatoes for fertility and longevity. Moreover, tomatoes can be eaten raw or served with other foods without disturbing the appearance or taste of the food.

  2. Broccoli
    Like the tomatoes, broccoli also packed with anti-cancer agent called sulforaphane. Several types of cancer that can be prevented with broccoli include breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, and lung cancer. Broccoli also contains vitamin C and dietary fiber which can enhance the immune system and maintain a healthy digestive system.

    A study in Japan which published in the journal Circulation stated that eating shellfish at least 1-3 times per month can prevent stroke and heart attack. Shellfish contain omega 3 fatty acids which reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases. Shellfish are also loaded with zinc which have been shown to increase testosterone production in men. This hormone plays an important role in improving male fertility.

    Tempeh can be used as an alternative for meats because 100 grams of tempeh contains about 18.3g proteins while 100 grams of meat contain about 18.8g of protein. Since tempeh has similar amount of protein to meat, tempeh can be the right choice as cheap superfood.

  5. Mushrooms
    Mushrooms are a healthy food as it contains many nutrients like selenium, B-vitamins, copper, and potassium as well as phytonutrients. Mushrooms have strong antioxidant properties which can get rid of harmful free radicals in the body.

  6. Watermelon

The water content in watermelon is enriched with essential vitamins and minerals such as beta carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, potassium and magnesium.
